摘要:Double layer effects on outer-sphere electron transfer was conceived by Frumkin in the 1930s, experimentally studied by the Frumkin school in the 1950-70s, and enriched greatly since 1970s thanks to new developments in experimental single crystals etc. and theoretical first-principles based approaches electrochemistry. This spectacular research line will be briefly reviewed in the first part of my talk. The main part of my talk is about threefold challenges of understanding of double layer effects on inner-sphere electron transfer to which electrocatalytic reactions belong. First, the double layer structure and properties are dramatically changed by specific adsorption and chemisorption of electrolyte species. Second, double layer effects on inner-sphere electron transfer reactions go beyond electrostatics; instead, short-range electronic effects and their interplay with electrostatic effects are essential. Third, as electrocatalytic reactions involve multiple electrons and the double layer structure is influenced by mass transport in the electrolyte solution, a hierarchal consideration of multielectron microkinetics, double layer charging and mass transport is important to comprehend the double layer effects.

报告人简介:黄俊,德国于利希研究中心亥姆霍兹青年课题组长,德国亚琛工业大学初级教授。2012年获清华大学车辆工程学士学位,2017年获该校博士学位。2017-2019年,任中南大学特聘副教授,独立开展研究工作。2020-2022年,受洪堡基金会资助,依次访问了德国于利希研究中心、德国乌尔姆大学、西班牙阿利坎特大学,漫步理论电化学的小花园。
