摘要:Composites play an increasingly important role in a variety of fields ranging from small electronics to large industrial infrastructures, due to their light weight and excellent properties. Commonly used reinforcements include fibers and microparticles. Carbon nanomaterials like carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene have been widely studied for the development of novel composites over the last two decades. However, it is still quite difficult to fully explore their intrinsic properties at macroscopic scale to achieve some realistic applications. The reasons are many, like difficulties in achieving structure defect control, homogeneous dispersion, good interface compatibility and low processing viscosity.
The hybrid structures consisting of carbon nanomaterials connected on micro particles demonstrate a number of advantages in terms of dispersion efficiency and reinforcing effect on the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of polymers. A synergistic effect between the two types of fillers has been widely cited in the scientific publications. However, the detailed mechanisms are still not clear yet.
Other applications of such hybrid structures are in the energy storage and harvesting fields. The graphite nanoplatesheets play an important and different roles in tuning and optimizing the functional properties of both the insulating elastomer and compliant electrodes (the basic two components of dielectric system), respectively.
